Our purpose is to assist low- and moderate-income people to secure and maintain quality, affordable housing. The Marin Housing Authority (“MHA”) is a small, dynamic agency, well-respected in our field. The Housing Choice Voucher and the Public Housing programs have been either a high performer or a standard performer in the past few years. We serve thousands of people through a wide range of programs and services, including public housing for families, seniors and the disabled; housing choice vouchers (Section 8); supportive housing services for special needs populations; rental assistance payments; and financial and technical assistance for moderate-income first-time homebuyers and low-income homeowners. We have about 60 employees.
Marin Housing is seeking a compassionate, assertive person to perform a variety of responsible, complex, and difficult tasks in the development, implementation, and delivery of housing activities in our Public Housing complexes. This position provides a variety of administrative support such as performing program analysis, creating and maintaining program databases and specialty Yardi computer software; assists in the overall coordination of a major program or function; assists clients by providing information and referral as needed; assists in the management of operations programs, and performs other related work as assigned. The work requires initiative, strong organizational skills, excellent judgment, superb communication skills, discretion, commitment to customer service, and the ability to make independent decisions in dealing with a wide range of client-related issues.
The Program Specialist should possess a combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by a minimum of 30 semester units of college level courses in a related field and four years of increasingly responsible experience in affordable housing eligibility or program administration working with programs for low-oncome or people with disabilities or other community-based services.
NAHRO or HUD certification as a Public Housing Manager or Occupancy Specialist may be substituted for the post-high school education requirement.

Must possess a valid California class C driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Annual salary range is $64,032.37-$85,809.50. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes a generous monthly allowance for medical insurance; dental, vision and life insurance premiums are covered by the authority; CalPERS retirement 2% @ 62; a 457 deferred compensation plan; 12 paid sick days per year; 10 days paid annual leave per year for the first two years, and will progressively increase as years of service increase (up to 30 days per year); 45 paid floating holiday hours per year; and 13 paid holidays. Other benefits include: FSA accounts, 457(b) plan, tuition reimbursement policy. Finally, the Housing Authority has 9/80 schedule available to employees, which, upon supervisor approval, allows eligible employees to have every other Friday off.
