MHA’S OVER-HOUSING POLICY
- If you are over-housed, you may stay in your current unit until the right-sized unit becomes available.
- MHA will consider “other personal circumstances” to determine whether an exception to the occupancy standard is reasonable. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
- This policy will apply to all participants in the Housing Choice Voucher program equally.
- Examples of exceptions to the occupancy standard: residents serving as emergency foster guardians; residents with a demonstrable medical-related need; employment or other life dynamics resulting in an inconsistent family size; temporary personal circumstances that would render right-sizing impractical; etc.
ALL GGV RESIDENTS GET TO STAY AT GGV
- The redevelopment of GGV will take years.
- Renovation of all units might take place in various phases, depending on the funding MHA gets.
- MHA is committed to protecting all GGV households, so no family will permanently lose their housing at GGV because of the renovation.
- Our Board of Commissioners supports the commitment to our “Guiding Principles” for the protection of all our residents.
