Executive Order Regarding Federal Grants and Loans
On January 27th, President Donald Trump’s budget office ordered all federal agencies to temporarily block disbursement of grants and loans — other than for Social Security, Medicare and other programs providing direct aid to individuals. Although information provided by the Office of Management Budget (OMB) states that funding for rental assistance programs would not be included in the temporary freeze, and HUD provided information that seemed to confirm that the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Project Based Voucher programs will not be included in the temporary freeze, the OMB memo caused a great deal of uncertainty and confusion. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the order until February 3rd. As of Wednesday January 29th, the White House has rescinded the funding freeze.
Rental assistance payments for program participants will not be impacted and will take place as regularly scheduled.

El 27 de enero, la oficina de presupuesto del presidente Donald Trump ordenó a todas las agencias federales que bloquearan temporalmente el desembolso de subvenciones y préstamos, excepto los del Seguridad Social, Medicare y otros programas que brindan ayuda directa a individuos. Aunque la información proporcionada por la Oficina de Administración de Presupuesto (OMB) establece que los fondos para programas de asistencia de alquiler no se incluirían en el congelamiento temporal, y HUD proporcionó información que parecía confirmar que los programas de Vales de Elección de Vivienda de la Sección 8 y Vales Basados en Proyectos no incluirse en la congelación temporal, el memorando de la OMB causó mucha incertidumbre y confusión.
