Update From Burbank Housing

The Burbank design team is focused on assessing the current condition of the community and identifying systems that require attention/improvement. These findings are being supplemented by resident input at in-person community meetings as well as via a resident survey.

On 7/27, Burbank hosted a second community meeting focused on soliciting input from residents on repairs and improvements needed to individual units and buildings. While attendance was down from the 1st community meeting, the smaller group provided more in-depth conversations about individual needs and concerns.

A resident survey, also designed to assess the current condition of buildings and units, is also in circulation, with approximately 100 residents responding as of 8/13.

While Burbank’s process will focus on assessing the current condition of GGV to identify systems that require attention or improvement through the reconstruction of the property, MHA will also utilize any information received to understand any maintenance needs that require more immediate resolution in the near and interim term, prior to construction beginning.

To supplement this information and help ensure safe and healthy buildings, physical testing of the buildings and apartments is being conducted. This testing will help inform the extent of the work to be completed as part of the overall renovation of the property. The buildings and apartments to be tested have been randomly chosen by the professionals conducting the tests.

If issues requiring immediate attention are identified, these will be addressed by MHA now.

2 types of testing will be completed:

  • a radon test to determine if there are levels of radon in apartments and
  • a building materials test to determine if any lead, asbestos or mold are present, or if there is any evidence of water intrusion. More information regarding these tests has been sent directly to residents via mail.

If you have questions regarding the testing please reach out to: EA@MARINHOUSING.ORG.

How to Place a Work Order (Maintenance Request)

Maintenance Requests can be placed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling our maintenance line at 415-390-2094.

Requests can also be placed on MHA’s Rent Café Resident Portal at https://apply.marinhousing.org/

Maintenance staff carry portable devices during regular work hours and work orders are submitted to them in the field through our app.

After-hours maintenance emergency work orders are submitted to our on-call maintenance staff to triage.

MHA remains committed to responding to maintenance needs and work orders prior to the revitalization of Golden Gate Village to ensure that more immediate needs can be supported wherever possible, while we work toward renovating the entire community.

Please don’t hesitate to call to report an issue!

List of Services

Bridge the Gap - High School Summer Program

This summer, Bridge the Gap had the privilege of helping students improve their GPA by offering a comprehensive credit recovery program. Over the course of six weeks, 36 students worked diligently to retake courses and achieve passing grades of “C” or better. Collectively, these students recovered more than 130 credits. Our success was made possible through strong partnerships with Marin Housing, which provided our facilities, and Wise Choices for Girls, who played a key role in student engagement.

In addition to academic support, students had the opportunity to engage in workshops focused on career exploration, college pathways, and college statement and scholarship writing. We also organized field trips to California State University, Sacramento, AMF Bowling in Petaluma, and Scandia, offering students a well-rounded and enriching experience.

We sincerely appreciate the financial support from the GGV Residents Council, as well as the invaluable assistance from GGV staff members Derneshia Morgan and Valerie Baske!
