Application Process

The Golden Gate Village revitalization (“GGV”) Revitalization Working Group (“RWG”) is an ad-hoc advisory group that will give advice and make recommendations to the Marin Housing Authority (“MHA”) on the Golden Gate Village (GGV) revitalization planning effort. The RWG will consist of up to 15 representative stakeholders including GGV Resident Council, other GGV residents, and additional members of the community, such as Marin City residents, foundations, educators, service providers, legal counsel, architects, community advocate and business representatives.

 

MHA will solicit members for the RWG. The GGV Resident Council will recommend 7 members for selection. MHA will also consult with the Redevelopment Subcommittee. After review of the GGVRC recommendations and consultation with the MHA Redevelopment Subcommittee, the MHA Executive Director shall appoint up to fifteen members of the RWG. Any participants in the RWG will be prohibited from bidding on any component of a subsequent rehabilitation plan.


Mission and Charter

he RWG will meet at least twice a month to advise and comment on matters related to the GGV Revitalization Plan. The RWG will review information, identify any challenges or concerns, and provide feedback on key planning elements for the rehabilitation of Golden Gate Village through discussions and workshops, to include but not limited to:

1.    Strategies proposed to help address the overhoused families at GGV

2.    Scenarios and options for temporarily relocating families during renovations

3.    Project financing scenarios

4.    Green design features and other rehabilitation strategies proposed by GGV Resident Council, including: energy efficiency, sustainable design features, alternative energy, and green jobs training

5.    Options for home ownership to build equity, including Limited Equity Cooperative ownership

 

The RWG will report the results of their meetings to the MHA Redevelopment Subcommittee no less than monthly.


Final Recommendations

After feedback from the RWG, MHA will review the recommendations made by the RWG and incorporate recommendations, as applicable and appropriate, into the GGV Rehabilitation plan. MHA will bring both the recommendations and a final rehabilitation revitalization plan for consideration to the MHA Board prior to submittal to HUD. Approval from both the MHA Board and HUD will be needed to move forward with any rehabilitation revitalization plan.
